Our School

El Gouna International School is a co-educational school established in 1998, as an essential part of the community infrastructure for families of Orascom employees and other Egyptians who chose to reside in this self-contained town, including a growing expat community. Located in the beautiful seaside town of El Gouna on the Red Sea Riviera of Egypt, El Gouna International School now caters to the children of a very diverse local and international community.

EGIS offers both the British Curriculum (the National Curriculum of England enriched with the local culture eventually leading to Cambridge/Edexcel - a comprehensive education through to IGCSE, AS and A-Levels) as well as, the Egyptian National Curriculum which is a modified language school syllabus with a global outlook. The two sections of El Gouna International School thrive under one umbrella. Both sections join together regularly for extra-curricular activities and major events and both have the opportunity to study the German DSD programme.

ABOUT

Our Mission

We pride ourselves on our dedication to our students, families, community, each other, our profession and to continuous learning as we strategically work on an ongoing School Improvement Plan.

We challenge, inspire and empower each other to believe in and succeed in fulfilling our full potential, to achieve our dreams and provide our students opportunities to qualify for top universities here and abroad by becoming passionate learners prepared to adapt and contribute in this rapidly changing world.

To be recognised by the success of our students in achieving their personal goals.

To aspire to the highest internationally recognised performance standards.

To build and celebrate a school culture based on internationalism.

To enable everyone to become life-long learners through the development of professional practice.

Our Philosophy

EGIS is set up to provide the highest academic standards, to encourage our children to become independent thinkers and learners, and to develop an understanding of different views.  We aim to discover and exploit the full potential of each pupil, both in academic and extra-curricular contexts. One important feature of EGIS is our pastoral system which is designed to personally monitor and encourage individual development in every aspect of school life, as well as, promote excellence, self-discipline, courtesy, honesty, loyalty, unity, optimism and concern for others and the environment.

The school's aim is to prepare young people for adulthood requiring its pupils to develop the fundamental skills necessary for independent learning, instill the knowledge, skills, values and ethics which would thus offer our pupils in the future, access into other leading schools and top universities of their choice.  EGIS encourages continuous learning enabling our children to be informed, and become active, responsible contributing citizens of the community, country and the world, both now and in the future.
